Ephesians 2:19-22: “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”
The apostles and prophets were the foundation of the early church because they pointed to and witnessed to Jesus. The early church was established on their preaching. Christ Himself is the rock foundation on which the whole church rests. The “cornerstone” was the first large stone placed at the corner of a building. The builders would line up the rest of the structure to the chief cornerstone. Being fitted together was a process where construction workers would turn huge rocks around until they fit each other perfectly. God fits believers together into the holy temple He is building for Himself.

1 Corinthians 3:18-23: “Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written – Job 5:13 ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness’ and again in Ps 94 – ‘the Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.’ Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours; whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come – all are yours. And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.”
The wisdom of this world does not coincide with God’s wisdom. Everything God has done in the church and the universe benefits all believers. There is no place for foolish boasting or competition among Christians.

Psalm 105: 1-3: “Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! Glory is His holy name, let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!
Not much we can add to that but….. AMEN!!!!!!!

Galatians 6:9, 10: “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Earlier in the chapter the apostle clarifies good works do not get you into heaven. However, good works are, in fact, an important fruit of the life of faith that God has planned for each believer. Christians are not only to serve one another in love, they should also do good to non-Christians.

Listen up America! Jude 5-7: “But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness of the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” This country has turned it’s back on the LORD – our government especially. Retribution is on the way folks….

Psalm 116:16, 17 – ” O LORD, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant ; You have loosed my bonds. I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.” The psalmist declares that he is God’s servant. As Jesus demonstrated in the Upper Room celebration of the Passover, every true follower of Christ must become a servant. Just as Jesus washed their feet, so every believer needs to serve others. It doesn’t have to be a magnificent display of serving, small things mean allot too. Look for simple ways to serve others, so we too can be like Christ.

Jesus is speaking in this segment directly after having super with the apostles where He identifies Judas as the traitor and predicts Peter’s denial of Christ in John 14: 12-14: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works that these he will do because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” Jesus had accomplished the greatest works possible, including raising the dead. How could He say that believers would do greater works? The answer is seen in the extent of what the apostles did. Jesus’ work on earth was confined to Palestine; the apostles would preach everywhere and see the conversion of thousands. Peter’s message at Pentecost brought more followers to Jesus than did Jesus’ entire earthly ministry. The disciples were able to do this work because Christ would go to the Father and send the Holy Spirit to empower them and us for our ministries.
