Psalm 90: 10-12: “The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” The point of the psalmist here is not to define our lifetime or set a maximum time, but to present a context of the shortness of human life. No matter how long people live, it is inevitable that we will all fly away to death. The important thing to take away is “how do we use the time the Lord has given us?” Do we serve Him in our daily lives? Real believers understand that there is far more to life than just the few years we live on this planet. Our identity is in eternity, and our homeland is heaven.
