1 Timothy 6:9, 10 – “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, and a snare, and into may foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Money in and of itself is not a problem, but the LOVE of money is. Love of money is a root, though not the root of evil. The love of money can drive a person into all types of evil. Some even to stray from the faith in their pursuit of money on a daily basis – gradually leaving behind their spiritual values. Destruction and perdition go hand in hand with ruin and loss. This loss may be experienced in this life, as through a wrong purpose for living, or it may be experienced in the afterlife if material desires lead a person away from Christ.
