Ecclesiastes 3:12, 13 – “I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor – it is the gift of God.” The advice of the preacher is to seize the day in the joy of God. Biblical faith is a call for joy (even when we live in a wicked world and are under terrible stress) this is because we find true joy in worshiping God and the blessings He brings.

Psalm 9:1, 2: ” I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.” Real praise is not halfhearted, it involves one’s whole being. God’s name represents who He is; His works stand for all He does. Aren’t we fortunate to have a relationship with the Creator! Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Psalm 27:4 – “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that I will seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life. To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.” I think we all want to “dwell in the house of the LORD” or we have the desire to always be near to God. His love is beautiful and is our protection in a tough world.

Ephesians 2: 1-5: “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).” Satan works very hard at corrupting healthy desires. He hates seeing people’s appetites satisfied. What he wants is to watch a person lusting after a good thing until he or she is controlled by the impulse to have it. The Devil is pleased when people make themselves slaves to a desire that—in the proper context—the Lord intended to be enjoyed freely. A believer walking in the Holy Spirit rejects whatever is trying to control their lives outside the word of God, preferring desires that are within God’s boundaries instead. That’s how we get His very best!

theWord: 2 Timothy 3: 1- 5: “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves. lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying it’s power. And from such people turn away!” I can honestly say in my lifetime, 66 years, I have never seen the world closer to this assessment. Prepare my friends, stay focused on Jesus Christ and His kingdom, this is our protection and sanity in an insane world.

Psalm 27: 1, 14 – “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I Be afraid? Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He will strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!” Light indicates deliverance from darkness, which is a biblical symbol for evil. The word salvation combined with the word light means “saving light.” To “wait on the LORD” is to demonstrate confident expectation. The Hebrew word for wait may also be translated ‘hope.’ To hope in God is to wait for His timing and His action. As we already know He is working in our lives in other areas we are not aware of. When all His plans are in place then He moves on our lives. Have a super weekend my friends!

Moses is speaking with the Israelites but this applies to all who love God and follow His commandments. Deuteronomy 6: 4-7 “Hear, O Israel,’The LORD our God, the LORD is one!’ You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart , with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words that I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” We all as believers respond to our God with devotion in all aspects of our lives. God’s revelation should be central to a godly family. We should naturally talk about Him while we go about our daily lives and routines. In doing so, it protects us from the worldly temptations that surround us and keeps Him alive in our hearts and minds – helping us to remain faithful.
