The Apostle John gives us excellent advice in 1 John 1:9, 10: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ┬áIf we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

Psalm 119: 33, 34 – ” Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; indeed I shall observe it with my whole heart.” God’s law protects us in this sinful world.

Joel 2:12, 13 – “Now therefore,” says the LORD, “turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. In Jesus’ time tearing ones clothes was a way of expressing grief or remorse. However, tearing of the clothes could be done without remorse. God requires a change of heart and sorrow over the sin in our lives.

Romans 11:33, 36 – “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen,” Folks, God is the source, means, and end of all things. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and the goal of everything. Therefore He should be praised and glorified forever.

On this TGIF day hear the Psalmist: Psalm 125: 1,2 – “”Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.”

Hebrews 13: 5,6 – Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

James 4: 7, 8 – ” Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and later rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” James urges believers to maintain an attitude of patience while suffering injustices. At Christ’s coming, wrongs will be righted and believers will be rewarded for their faithfulness to Christ.
