Jesus had come to earth, ministered, was crucified, and rose from the dead when Peter spoke. Acts 2:38 – “Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”‘ In faith, we have to accept who Jesus declared Himself to be while on earth, which was confirmed by His resurrection and ascension. When we recognize who Jesus Christ really is, the result is to do what He commands. The gift of the Holy Spirit puts us in communion with the Father and the Son. Accepting the Holy spirit indicates not only that our sins are forgiven, but also that the Lord has placed His law within us.
