King Solomon makes an excellent point in Ecclesiastes 3:14 – “I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it,and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.” The sense I get is that God’s works have a durable quality to them. The “fear” of God refers to true piety, not terror. BUT the power of nature awes me and I have a healthy respect for that! Enjoy your weekend brothers and sisters!

Hebrews 13: 5,6 – “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?'” He Himself refers to Jesus and this statement rings out in John 10:28. In the Greek it contains two double negatives similar in English to saying “I will never, ever, ever, forsake you.” That is a nice assurance!

The Apostle John lays down some excellent wisdom regarding prayer in 1 John 5: 14, 15: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” Brothers and sisters, the key to knowing that God hears our prayers IS to pray “according to His will.”

Psalm 25:4,5 – “Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.”

The Apostle Paul offers some good advice on dealing with Satan in Ephesians 6: 10-12: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places.” This armor is the believer’s protection against evil and the evil one; faith, prayer, the gospel of peace. The ‘wiles of the devil’ are Satan’s subtle tricks to defeat Christian’s in spiritual warfare.

King Solomon was one of the wisest men that ever lived. Listen to his summation in Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14 – “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” We all know this but think about it – “every work.” Caroline and I wish all our brothers and sisters a FAB weekend!

We all have our enemies. It might be a person at work, a relative, a sexual weakness, or drugs – we all have them. King David offers some excellent thought on the matter in Psalm 27: 1 – “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life: of whom shall I be afraid.” We all need to face our enemies with the strength of our LORD and overcome them!
